Candra Wijaya & Sigit Budiarto

Indonesia

CURRENT IBF RANKING: 10

When Sigit was banned from international competition for one year in November 1998, after being tested positive for the anabolic steroid Nandrolone. They split up as Wijaya’s career had to go on. Teaming up with Tony Gunawan, the talented Candra won the Olympic gold medal in Sydney. In spite of this title, Candra and Sigit got back together, to start all over again. “I felt really lousy to be so far away in the world ranking, while Candra was winning the Olympic gold,” said Sigit. “I wanted to get back to the top so badly that I worked and trained very hard.”
